To find a customer, you have to first find out what drives their business, their clients and their industry. To fulfill your customer, you must understand what his (or her) needs are. To delight your customer, you must satisfy those needs. You can’t substitute this, no matter how much technical knowledge you have. And you absolutely must understand the fundamentals of marketing; Product, Price, Place, and Position. If anyone tells you that you can ignore business fundamentals, thinkback to early 2000, when ‘experts’ were telling us that ‘new’ IT companies were above business basics like ‘Profit’ & ‘Return On Investment’.
